India is a country looking forward to become the world’ssuperpower. That said, the country is more concerned with economic growth,
improved technology, commerce, trade and business opportunities. Looking at
these aspects, the results have been amazing since every aspect is moving in
the right direction with better business opportunities available for both local
and international companies and business entrepreneurs. But are these moves
really going to help when almost half of India’s population is still
languishing in poverty? No matter the gains any country can make; if poverty
still prevails, becoming a superpower of the world is just but wishful
thinking.
What therefore should be done to improve the situation?
India government, though trying its best has not managed to reach all people in
every corner of the country. A bigger percentage of people are still suffering
in poverty, illiteracy and disease attack among other challenges. The only
rescue has been the NGOs who work with a sole interest of helping the needy and
not doing business to gain profits or other benefits. This has by far boosted
economic development of the country and unity that is crucial in advancing the
country to greater heights.
The Relief India Trust is one of the organizations in India
registered for charitable purposes to help the government in delivering various
services to the marginalized and sidelined communities in the country. Through
community based organizations created by this trust, many people in the grass
roots can now access decent education, medical care and financial assistance
wherever possible. Disaster response and management has also been boosted with
the entry of such organizations as they help rescue people from various
calamities in time before more losses happen.
The Relief India Trust is also involved in participatory
governance to ensure all the country’s resources are distributed evenly and
equally throughout the country so that development can be realized in almost
every part and corner. The children in slums, streets and rural areas, who
never knew what education is, today have a chance to complete their education
and compete favorably for available opportunities in the market. Most of them
could even afford the basic needs, but now have a chance for them as the trust
distributes all basic necessities to children in schools and needy families the
same case as clothes.
